A network of culturally congruent community doulas committed to ensuring pregnant people have access to fair and equitable doula care, while providing doulas with the tools, skills, and mentorship to succeed as professional birth workers. Expert mentors guide all doulas, strengthening their knowledge, skills, and development.
Born from a deep commitment to addressing pregnancy- and birth-related healthcare inequities experienced by Black women and birthing people of color, SisterWeb provides no-cost, culturally congruent doula care to Black pregnant women and all birthing people planning to birth in San Francisco through the Kindred Birth Companions program. SisterWeb also supports the next generation of birth workers through the Blossoming Birth doula training program, offered in partnership with City College of San Francisco, and a structured apprenticeship model. Rooted in its namesake, SisterWeb weaves a web of care that uplifts clients, doulas, apprentices, and the broader community to flourish in care and purpose.
