Sustainable energy research is of critical importance, but unfortunately the BP-Berkeley Energy Biosciences Institute is fatally flawed because of its GMO and fossil fuel research agenda, blatant conflicts of interest, the sponsor’s untrustworthiness as a defender of public good, threats to academic integrity and diversity, and the unfairness of socializing costs while privatizing benefits.
