[Apparently the top bar in this logarithmic graph is $200 in 2025 dollars, reached in June 2008. Perhaps the main trigger of the deflation of the housing bubble just after that, in turn triggering the October 2008 financial crisis. Then innovations in horizontal drilling and multi-stage fracking increased the crude oil supply to meet demand once again in the early 2010s. That is my impression.]
