FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Marin County’s Seventh “Project Homeless Connect” will be hosted by the Town of Fairfax on  Thursday, February 18, at the Fairfax Women’s Club, 46 Park Road,  between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.  This is a multifaceted event that gives some of the neediest in our community a chance to access services they need and at the same time shines a light on an issue that remains largely misunderstood in Marin County. The event will provide food, health testing, a dentist, counseling, ID cards, lunch and a whole lot of hope.

Modeled after San Francisco’s Project Homeless Connect – now a national model – this event has been developed under the auspices of the Marin County Board of Supervisors and the Town of Fairfax. Participating agencies include Marin County Department of Health and Human Services, St. Vincent de Paul Society, Homeward Bound, Community Action Marin, Legal Aid of Marin, Ritter Center, Center for Volunteer and Nonprofit Leadership, , Warm Wishes, the Fairfax Police Department,  The Town of San Anselmo, The San Anselmo Police Department, United Way of the Bay Area and MarinLink, which has taken the lead on organizing this event.

“The programs and services already exist, Project Homeless Connect offers us a way to reach out to those who don’t know about them or know how to access them”, said Supervisor Susan Adams

Volunteers are needed for this all day event in several different areas, including service area managers, greeters and client guides. Orientation will be provided on the morning of the event.

Donations of food, clothing or personal care items are gratefully accepted.
